Vision Activation Coaching Program Step #8 Vision Activation
Well, we made it! We have clarified the vision, release the blockages, aligned with outside forces that can support our success, and now we are ready to powerfully move forward with full confidence that we have what we need to create our next manifestation, which promises to bring greater levels of fulfillment, joy, and inevitably, it’s own set of lessons.
This is most certainly not the end of the journey, but another important stop along the way. Remember, each vision we feel drawn to and commit to realizing, helps us continue to shape and refine our sense of a bigger purpose we are here to fulfill, as long as we don’t quit.
As with the beginning of any adventure, it is always good to be prepared for what is ahead, but also realize there is only so much preparation we can do, given there will be twists and turns that we can’t anticipate.
We have a vision, a sense of hope about what is ahead, but also a willingness to be flexible to respond to the new information that comes into our path, which might continue to shape and adjust our mindset and approach.
But I have certainly discovered it is only through action, not just imagining or overthinking, that we get even more clear on what we are really aiming towards. If we are willing to test and learn, with a spirit of play and curiosity, we will reap the rewards of having the courage to share our vision with others.
When I felt a draw to an upgraded vision after returning to Rwanda, I knew it was meant to be a blend of my background in creating Professional Development Programs, Community Building, and Coaching.
But I also sensed I was being asked to bring in other parts of myself that had been compartmentalized, including travel, cultural curiosity, and spirituality. I was not making any headway staying in my comfort zone in Kentucky and getting trapped in my mind’s objections to all the reasons it was NOT possible to create this life.
So, in search of inspiration, I decided to roadtrip through the Northeast US to tour retreat centers and intentional communities before heading to Portugal to study the digital nomad movement.
I had begun to feel a pull to start sharing my story of seeking answers through these various experiences with others through writing, and despite my ego’s protests, I kicked off my newsletter in October of 2022, and within weeks, I felt a great amount of flow in this new found form of self-expression.
Family and friends started sharing their feedback and appreciation, and it gave me the courage to continue exercising this new level of vulnerability in being transparent about my process of building this upgraded vision for my life.
I found a greater level of validation that it is important to not “wait” until the vision is fully actualized to start talking about it as I listened to this conversation on “Why Everyone Needs a Personal Brand.”
Because of my openness talking about the life I was building, blending coaching, spirituality, travel, and community building, the right people aligned with this vision started finding me.
This included a suggestion to check out the Transformational Travel Council, an introduction to a new thought partner also operating at the intersection of transformational coaching and travel, as well as an invitation to visit the Ted Turner Reserve to learn about conservation-focused hospitality projects.
It is also important that you do find experiments or tests that you can run to continue to notice what you have energy for and what you don’t, and refine your “how” around your vision.
Returning from Portugal, I felt ready to dive into “testing” some concepts, including a monthly global communion circle hosted virtually, a mastermind coaching group, and customized co-living engagements.
I found safe and supportive people to join me in testing these various concepts, and was transparent with them that I wanted them to join me in the learning process, asking for feedback and input as I went along.
Accelerating our learning through action, and inviting others to learn with us, is vital when we are in the process of realizing a new vision or reality. It was not always comfortable, as I grew in my ability to accept that not everyone I was inviting along on this journey wanted to be along for the ride, but I also realized that the more authentic I was, the more the RIGHT people would be drawn to me, and the WRONG people would disqualify themselves.
And that was a gift! I was also reminded to focus on the enjoyment of self-expression and growth found along the way, more than the outcome or reactions, which also provided some relief.
In the end, I found I most enjoyed the writing and group coaching activities, and decided to release hosting the larger virtual gatherings, which felt less intimate. Action was the only way to get to that conclusion.
There will be set-backs along the way, so it is extremely important to do regular assessments to recognize and appreciate our progress, and focus on giving ourselves credit for how far we have come, rather than focusing on how far we have to go.
This is also where our support system comes into play. We might need to let certain people know that we need some extra encouragement and grace, as we demonstrate beautiful levels of vulnerability and courage to boldly create the life we want.
Additionally, Affirmations can be extremely supportive in this phase of the process to keep us in a positive mindset, but it is equally important to ensure we have the space to process with trusted confidants when we have moments where discouragement or fear cloud our perceptions of reality.
With all of these things in mind, here are some prompts I encourage you to journal through so that we can build the foundation for success as you onboard yourself and others to your dream life:
Where do you see opportunities to talk about your new vision, so that others are aware of what you are hoping to create in this next chapter? Is it an e-mail update, a social media post, a blog post?
In what areas do you think you will need to accelerate your learning in order to realize this upgraded vision? According to your preferred learning style, how would you like to approach learning about these different topics?
Which members of your support system do you want to focus on activating to receive the necessary mentorship, advice, and also emotional support you will need in the midst of this upcoming season of transition?
If you looked up in six months, what would success look like to you in this new vision? Who is surrounding you? What impact are you having? What new lessons are you learning? How do you feel when you imagine yourself in this new vision?
What affirmations do you think will help you stay positive and hopeful in the midst of the inevitable ups and downs that come along with transitional times?
If what I am sharing resonates, I encourage you to find time for a virtual coffee here. If I am not the right resource, I would still love to learn a bit about your story, and see if there is another connection point I might be able to point you towards that might help you find your way forward.
